Fentanyl, an extremely powerful synthetic opioid, is the #1 killer of those age 18-45 in the U.S. It is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl - about the size of a few grains of sand or salt - is considered a lethal dose.
Illegal fentanyl is made by people who aren't scientists or chemists. There is no quality control, so the amount of fentanyl in an illegal drug or counterfeit prescription pill is inconsistent and may be fatal.
Even if you believe your child would never touch a drug of any kind, talk with them so they will know how to keep themselves safe.
