UthMpact Coordinates 2015 Project Prom
& Presents Gala & Fashion Show on February 13th!

Polk County, FL – With Spring just around the corner, it is almost Prom Time! Unfortunately for some teens, the expense of this special event could make attending prom out of reach.  Teen leaders from UthMpact, the coalition for a Drug Free Polk, are busy coordinating the third year of Project Prom to provide formal wear and accessories to deserving high school students in our community who might not otherwise be able to afford the expense of Prom Night.

New for the 2015 Prom Season, UthMpact is excited to announce its Inaugural Project Prom Gala & Fashion Show, which will take place on Friday evening, February 13, 2015, at the Magnolia Building in Lakeland. Tickets for this fun night of Fashion and Fundraising are available now for $10 pre-order and also available at the door. Participants can enjoy the latest and greatest in Prom attire, dance to great music, and donate gently used formal wear for girls and guys that UthMpact Polk will distribute to teens who may not otherwise be able to afford them.

We are asking for assistance from our local community to support this effort by donating gently used dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry, men’s suits, tuxes, ties, and accessories. Formal wear donations may be dropped off at the InnerAct Alliance office, 621 South Florida Avenue in Lakeland, weekdays from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; or at Vintage Warehouse Lakeland, 4308 Wallace Road in Lakeland, weekdays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Student Shopping Days to distribute prom formal wear to those in need will take place on the following Saturdays from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm: February 28, March 7 and March 21; and Sundays from Noon – 4:00 pm: March 1, March 8, and March 22; at the old Coldwater Creek storefront in Lakeside Village, 1429 Towne Center Drive, in Lakeland (in between LOFT and Chico's). High school students with a Polk County School ID can sign a Project Prom Pledge to celebrate drug-free and receive their formal wear for FREE!

In 2013, over 100 prom dresses were given away to young ladies. In 2014, UthMpact continued the momentum and expanded Project Prom to include gently used men’s attire for teen boys and involve the Winter Haven area, as well as Lakeland, in our efforts.

UthMpact's goal is to promote a fun and safe prom night. For information on formal wear donation, student shopping days, or to purchase tickets to the Gala and Fashion Show, please contact Emily Plank, UthMpact Coordinator, at (863) 802-0777.
