Suicide Warning Signs for Youth

 


Suicidal thoughts, like mental health conditions, can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, or background. It is especially dangerous among youth - suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-14 and the 3rd leading cause of death among those ages 15-24 in the U.S.

* Seeking access to guns, pills, etc.
* Having a preoccupation with death
* Sudden mood swings or personality changes
* Hopelessness
* Self-loathing or hatred
* Neglecting appearance
* Changes in eating and sleeping patterns
* Saying goodbye
* Withdrawal
* Self-destructive behavior
