Today is the Second Anniversary of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Today marks the second anniversary of the nation's revamped 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline - the national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to those in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the U.S.

Our government invested nearly $1.5 billion into the program in 2022 as part of a plan to address the nation's mental health and substance abuse crises. Counselors have answered more than 10 million calls, texts, and chats since the hotline launched. The Hotline is free to anyone - you just need to dial 988 if you are in need of counseling and support.
